Connecting an account
The slowest part, done once per network. Set aside an afternoon and expect some waiting.
Before Inkling can post as you, each network has to be told that Inkling is allowed to. There is no way around this and no way to shorten it: every network makes you register something at their end first, and several of them take days to approve it.
The good news is that it is once per network, forever, and the networks are independent. The one you finish today starts working today while the rest are still being looked at.
How it goes
- Open Social → Settings. Every network is listed, each one saying Not set up.
- Press the ? next to a network's name. A walkthrough opens: what you are about to create, what the buttons are called on that network's site, roughly how long it takes, and the one step people usually get wrong.
- Follow it, and come back with two values — a Client ID and a Client secret.
- Paste them in, copy the Redirect URI shown there into the network's own settings, and press Save and switch on.
- Then go to Social → Accounts and press Connect. The network asks whether you allow this. Say yes.
The secret is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again — you will only ever see its last four characters, which is enough to recognise it.
